Whilst the Chancellor’s injection of £750 million for the sector is welcome, this funding will largely be accessible only to organisations involved in the covid-19 response and will take time to unlock. Meanwhile, charities across the UK continue to fight for survival as workforces are furloughed en-masse, services closed and activities curtailed – just when needed most.
We believe, any request of a Government overwhelmed by demands and with limited capacity to respond should be singular, easy to implement and reinforced by current data. A longer-term package of measures will take time to negotiate, time the sector simply does not have. Together, we can keep charities working for good. Stay safe, stay positive.
